SME Sustainability Society held a member-focused group discussion in August regarding the policy address for 2025. This group summarized opinions from members across various industries and visited Dr. Chan Pak-lai, the Deputy Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, in September to convey these views.
We communicated on five key areas: collaboration between NGOs, social enterprises, and SMEs; green finance and innovation support; training subsidies and industry support; environmental protection and cross-border recycling policies; and the development of green and sustainable tourism.
Among the proposals discussed were those aimed at enhancing collaboration between the business sector, social welfare sector, and government. The purpose is to alleviate the pressures faced by SMEs due to economic downturns and geopolitical instability, while also promoting economic growth across various sectors in Hong Kong. We aim to more effectively tap into market potential and inject new momentum into the local economy.
We also hope the government can play a proactive role by incorporating social enterprise responsibilities into the policy address, leading businesses to implement sustainable development and related policies that benefit the business environment.
