President's message
With the vision of our founding President, Honorary Advisor, and all founding members, we foresee “sustainable development” as the major trend of the future. In 2019, SME Sustainability Society was established, with the core mission of “transforming the innovative model of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development practices for SMEs in Hong Kong and Greater China.” We aim to promote joint efforts among enterprises to practice social responsibility and achieve sustainable development goals. As global attention to sustainability deepens, this concept is no longer just a slogan but has become a core guiding principle for development across all sectors.
Hong Kong has approximately 360,000 SMEs, accounting for over 98% of the total local businesses and providing about 43% of employment opportunities. SMEs play a crucial role in driving sustainable development. Under the influence of globalization and geopolitical factors, SMEs need to adopt sustainable strategies to enhance their competitiveness. This is not only a necessary response to challenges but also a strategic opportunity to boost profits.
Technological development and application are indispensable in this process. Digital transformation is key to achieving sustainable development. Through advanced data analytics, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI), SMEs can manage resources more efficiently, reduce carbon emissions, and improve supply chain efficiency. Digitalization also enhances the transparency, reliability, and real-time disclosure of climate change and ESG data. These technological applications not only optimize operations but also help enterprises comply with sustainability reporting standards and frameworks, meet customer expectations, and strengthen their market image and influence.
I sincerely thank all committee members for their trust and support.It is my honor to serve as the President of the 4th term of the SME Sustainability Society. I feel a great sense of mission. The Society is not only a hub for knowledge and resources but also a bridge for collaboration across sectors. We will strengthen cooperation with government and social welfare organizations to promote policy formulation and implementation, creating a friendly environment for SME development.
Let us work hand in hand, guided by sustainable development, to create a better future. I believe that through our collective efforts and innovative transformation,SMEs can play an even greater role and achieve higher accomplishments in this era of change.
